Description
The M1911 Story
Used in WWI & II, Korea, Vietnam and several other US conflicts, this is a classic. Designed because the .38 revolver used at the time lacked the knock-down power needed to take down a drugged up adversary in the Pacific and Cuba, the .45 met the criteria so well it was used by the US Army until the 1980s, when under pressure from NATO to use their adopted 9mm round for higher magazine capacity, the US Army adopted the M9 Beretta and replaced the storied piece of history.
